"Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader"

Read Across America

Literacy arouses hope, not only in society as a whole but also in the individual child who is striving for fulfillment, happiness, and personal benefit by learning how to read and write.

We are encouraged to give students material that will stretch their imaginations and will help them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward people whose lives are quite different from their own.

That is why DLEACS brings the celebration of reading and literacy into our classrooms and school all year long as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the National Education Foundations' Read Across America! We kicked off National Reading Month by celebrating the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss.Teachers and staff design contests, family literacy events, and community reading days to provide cozy mornings of uninterrupted reading.
