Amidst the sea of green and the infectious rhythms echoing the streets of Jersey City, the pride of Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School radiated brightly in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. For the students took center stage, captivating audiences with their spirited performances and infectious energy.

Under the new leadership of Mr. Rico Jones, the band marched with renewed vigor, accompanied by two talented musicians from Jazz House Kids. Together, they wove a tapestry of melodies, serenading the crowds and igniting the festive spirit of the occasion.

This year marked a special milestone as Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School introduced two new cheerleading teams, the Pink Panthers and the Purple Cubs to the school’s lineup under the leadership of Ms. Crystal Mason. Led by the dynamic duo of Ms. L. Marie McCall and Ms. Rhea Benn, the middle school cheerleading squads infused the parade route with infectious enthusiasm, captivating the crowds with their spirited routines.

For the 12th consecutive year, DLEACS made a grand appearance aboard a float that epitomized the essence of Irish heritage and festivity. The court of the float, included a Queen, King and Princess, each resplendent in their Irish crowns and regalia. Their presence symbolized not only the school’s participation in the parade but also its leadership in fostering a sense of unity and celebration within the community. Honored members were Milagros Arias as Queen of the Float, Dayrell Crutcher as King of the Float, and Mariah Payton- Reese as Princess of the Court.
