Ms. P. West

Golden Tales of Hip Hop
Ms. P. West

Montclair University students visited DLEACS third to fifth grade scholars to perform the show, "Golden Tales of Hip Hop". The musical produced by Professor Charles Burks reflects the cultural storytelling tradition embedded in hip hop, highlighting themes of identity, resilience and community voice. Through rhythm, narrative, and lived experience, the work captures the evolution of hip both as an artistic expression and vehicle for social change.

🎓✨ Road to College: Kean University Visit ✨🎓

As part of our Road to College program, scholars from Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School recently toured Kean University, taking an exciting step toward their future in higher education.

Students explored the campus, learned about academic programs, and gained firsthand insight into college life. The visit sparked meaningful conversations about goals, opportunities, and the pathways available to them beyond high school.

Experiences like this are essential in helping our students see themselves on a college campus and begin to envision what’s possible. We are proud to continue creating opportunities that prepare and inspire our scholars for success.

📚➡️🎓 The journey continues!
