Early Learning Advantage

Students with younger ones

The faculty at Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School (DLEACS) prepare young scholars with both comprehensive literacy strategies coupled with character education to help students chart their course to master their academic journey. DLEACS Kindergarten through second grade (K-2) teachers specifically also concentrate on laying the foundation to foster their social-emotional learning by closing the gap between home and school. Our staff encourages participation in literacy through cross content social events to support their children. Teachers of our primary grades also provide the opportunity for students to learn and participate in traditional holiday meals regardless of our parents' ability to do so. These activities are often teaching tools for both the student and their parents, and we do this to provide a blueprint for parent-child connection.

Some of our K-2 initiatives include:

Literacy Week

Sweetheart Dance ( Mother-son, Father-Daughter family bonding)

Thanksgiving Sharing Meal & Support of World Hunger Day
