DLEACS Graduation Ball

Standing quietly in a far-off corner situated in an adjoining room, Principal Brewer looks onto a jubilant crowd with pride. His smile marks another successful year in building a cadre of young, productive citizens.

For the past five years, Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School has held a reception and ball at the Chandelier Restaurant, where eighth-graders officially confirmed as soon to be graduates, have their commencement banquet. The long-awaited occasion reflects attention to detail. The Grand Ballroom is awash in blue and white, the official colors of DLEACS' commencement. Graduates enjoy a buffet-style meal- as the menu describes, from the cauldrons of nobles: Chicken Francaise, and other authenticated Italian dishes. At dinner's end, students delight in an evening of music and socializing.

The highly anticipated event takes months of preparation and although the schedule seems simple, staff and faculty have their work cut out for them. They make the arduous social battle look effortless. They order the chaos that is by shaping the student experience to their private wishes and dreams of an aristocracy. Through the teachers and staff labor, students often accomplish what other artists do - the creation of an alternative universe, more exalted than reality.

What a good job they've done. Congratulations to all!
