Students and their parents streamed into the front-facing courtyard at DLEACS on Thursday to meet teachers, receive student information packets, and learn about school goals in the new year.
The annual Title 1 Back to School night event provides students, parents, and teachers with an opportunity to succeed in the school year. 

At the school curbside, Mister Softee greeted students and parents alike with a cheerful smile. He served favorite treats to patrons and even donated 30% of his profits to DLEACS after-school program; donations totaled $100.

The event helped “break the ice” for students, said Principal Brewer. For the teachers, it helped them put a name to the face of parents.

When asked about school-enhanced cleaning procedures and safety protocols, Jonathan, a fifth-grader, said he likes wearing his mask. His father added that the students are well prepared for the school year. “ I think they’re ready,” Saul said. GO DLEACS!
