DLEACS will host a visit from the New Jersey Office of Charter and Rennaisance Schools on November 13, 2019. The office is responsible for implementing the Department's oversight of charter schools statewide from application review through renewal. The office authorizes charter schools consistent with national best practices in charter school authorizing, offering school operators' autonomy and opportunities for innovation in exchange for accountability for student outcomes. A charter school is a public school operated under a charter granted by the Commissioner of Education. It is independent of the district board of education and is governed by a board of trustees.
