DLEACS Band Peforms in St. Patrick Day Parade

Parade with Mr. P.

Led by Honorary Irishman of Year, Principal Brewer and our marvelous school bandleader, Richard Polatchek, Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School band made their third debut at the annual Jersey City St. Patrick Day Parade. Their performance was fantastic! Thunderous applause was heard for blocks as our students serenaded the crowds with popular tunes such as "Crazy in Love" song by Beyonce featuring Jay Z. Mayor Fulop congratulated our kids on their rendition of the song "HUMBLE" by Kendrick Lamar.

Parents and supporters were among those who lined the street to watch the parade processional ascend Kennedy Boulevard. DLEACS float featured a kindergartner, Nelvin Ebon who dressed as a Leprechaun to celebrate the Irish holiday. To the delight of many spectators, Minions and Pikachu were characters among our entourage, which provided a sense of imagination for all.

Music education is a vital aspect of our school curriculum and contributes to children's intellectual development. Students of music can be more emotionally developed, with empathy towards other cultures. The St. Patrick Day parade provides an excellent venue for our mission to help children ability to grow socially and emotionally while providing exposure to the world around them.

Special Acknowledgement goes to CEO, Christopher Garlin, board member, Phyllis Fasone and Maureen Hulings for making the appearance possible. Thank you goes to Mr. Rodriquez for his programmatic reinforcement during the processional, to Mrs. Hoffman, Ms. Trent, Mrs. Slack and Ms. Wright for their ongoing support.

Great job students! See photos of the parade here. Read about the parade on NJ.com
