Graduation 2021!

Angela McKnight gives out diploma 1

Children, parents, and community members lined the isles of St. Patrick Church on June 30, 2021, in attendance for Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School's synchronous celebration of its eighth-grade students and commencement honorees.

New Jersey's Assemblywoman Angela McKnight delivered the keynote address at the graduation. The honorable lawmaker was elected as the first African American Assemblywoman for the 31st District of the New Jersey State Legislature in 2015 is now serving her third term.

Seventeen categories of awards were given to students including those for educational excellence, academic excellence, principal's awards, Clark Terry Award for music, Garlin Family Award, and most notable gifts to students from the Madison Family, kin to Dr. Lena Edwards herself.

DLEACS' in-person ceremony was marked by pomp and circumstance performed by the members of the school's band. Victor Santana & Maiyisha Ulysses were named valedictorians.

On graduation day, Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School students stood proud of the hard work behind them, confident in the classmates beside them, and prepared for the future in front of them. We wish them luck in their future endeavors!
