Child Care Funding for School Aged Students

Funding Available

In August, Governor Murphy announced the Department of Human Services will provide state child care subsidies for child care during the school day for children age 5 to 13 years old through the end of calendar year 2020.

Participation in the state Child Care Subsidy Program is available to children in families with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level who meet program criteria.

Under the Governor's new COVID Child Care Initiative, through the end of the calendar year, currently enrolled and any newly enrolled school-age children will now be eligible for state subsidy funding for child care services throughout the school day.

School-Age Tuition Assistance Program
A new $150 million program has been created to provide child care support to New Jersey families, who are not eligible for the state Child Care Subsidy Program, but are in need of either full or part-time child care due to their child's school's remote learning schedule.

To be eligible for this assistance, you must be:

  • a NJ resident;
  • your child must be attending school remotely, either part-time or full-time; and
  • your annual gross household income must be $75,000 or less.

This assistance is available until December 30, 2020 and applications will be accepted until funds are exhausted.

Apply online for the New Jersey School-Age Tuition Assistance Program.

Note: You will need to upload proof of income and a copy of your school's remote learning schedule (acceptable formats are word, PDF, png or jpeg). You should have these on hand before you start this application.
